Such an interesting and informative read, Sue. Congratulations on so many achievements here, I'm going to restack as I am sure there will be many interested in your story and your success. Long may it continue when it feels right for you.x
You’ve had such a great year and all your efforts are paying off 🎉
TBG don’t do any marketing for books going into their second/subsequent years but it costs nothing to stay with them either.
But I’d suggest you take back your Rights and all the files and do the self publishing thing. You’re already flying and people know you! I work full time and just can’t give enough to the process sadly xx
Hi Kate, thanks for the advice! I’m going to stick with them for another year - the presence throughout Waterstones is huge for The Rewilding of Molly McFlynn and I don’t want to loose that, along with the dozens of copies that Gardners now keep in stock. Then there are the Amazon reviews and rankings etc. I’m so busy with another project, and have had such a tricky year with mum’s death that relisting just on Amazon doesn’t feel right for me at the moment. Will see what 2025 brings and then regroup then!
That’s exactly how I felt when my first year was up with Maid of Steel. I’d go further and say I feel my debut’s ‘home’ is with TBG 🤩 but they know I’m considering other options for ‘The Projectionist’.
Sorry you lost your mum this year. Both my parents are elderly and not well at all. And you can’t help but put writing projects on hold while attentions are elsewhere xx
Yeah, I'm not sure I'd go to TBG again!! I think I've learnt so much over the time - they produced a wonderful book, but I think I could now self publish with just as good if not better results.
I've got a huge new project in the pipeline and intend to use Substack as a launch pad for it then pitch to traditional publishers.
Sorry to hear you are going through the same with your parents - difficult times! It's the care continuum - grandchildren at one end and elderly parents at the other!

Thanks Lindsey, much appreciated. It's been one heck of a learning curve!
I really admire your energy and determination Sue. It sounds like incredibly hard work.
So kind xx
