I read this post earlier in the week and it stayed with me. I’m reluctant to name my sensitivity as a ‘disorder’, but as the week wore on and I felt the accumulation of a few mild bruises of rejection, I began to feel quite overwhelmed. I’m a sea swimmer, and it feels like one of the key ways I encourage my system to re-set. That, or good cry. Water heals. 💦

Thank you for sharing Helen. Great you can get in the sea to reset.

Love this Sue, the RSD part of ADHD is the worst part of it for me, it’s a physician sensation, literally feels like a punch to the chest, not fun and not easy to get out of either, only thing that works for me is action, by which I mean either going on a walk, or writing or getting in to some hyper focus task, housework is also good. It’s something I’m working on too but it’s hard, taking deep breathes too as I realise I hold mine a lot. Well done for getting in the water, braver than me! 🙂

Thanks Juliet - it's awful, isn't it! Movement definitely helps. I've gone back to spinning at the gym. It really helps! I also hugged a tree yesterday, face against the trunk!

I get anxious sometimes, but don't have ADHD, though I have a good friend that does, so I appreciate at second-hand the struggles it can cause. I really appreciate the honesty and good humour with which you write about this, Sue - it so helps give more insight. I see you do morning pages - I've just started doing them (today was my very first day) - do you find they help? I was quite buzzy with ideas after doing mine, so I'm hoping that lasts! Love the red dressing gown, BTW - looks cosy 💦
